Snohomish and Skagit County Equine Doctor’s Combine Talents

 November Press Release:

The practices of Northwest Veterinary Clinic in Stanwood and Mount Vernon Veterinary Hospital are excited to announce some upcoming changes that will have a positive impact on our ability to offer comprehensive veterinary services to our equine clients.

Beginning December 16th, the equine team from Northwest Veterinary Clinic of Stanwood will move to Mount Vernon and merge with the Mount Vernon Veterinary Hospital equine team. We are excited to bring our two teams of equine professionals together into one cohesive team in order to better serve Skagit, Snohomish, Whatcom, and Island Counties.

All of the doctors – Christopher Hanson, Kenneth Leisher, Viveka Rannala and Claire Tungseth – are looking forward to this change. Please note that during the week of December 16th, we will be closed for regular appointments so that our equine staff can join our veterinarians for team training and team building. Local veterinary clinics will be able to handle any daytime emergencies during our training.

Along with combining our two teams, we will be changing our name to Northwest Veterinary Clinic of Mount Vernon. Our ambulatory services will not change. We are pleased to be able to serve your horses’ medical needs regardless of their physical location, or you will have the option to bring them to our beautiful facility in West Mount Vernon at 14110 Bradshaw Road. We will continue to provide after-hours emergency coverage when emergent equine needs arise.

Our hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some general services available on Saturdays when prearranged with our veterinarians. You can schedule an appointment with one of our doctors by calling either the Stanwood or Mount Vernon offices.

In Stanwood, we will carry a limited inventory of equine pharmaceuticals to save travel to Mount Vernon to pick up prescriptions and other medications. Additionally, we will continue to offer home delivery through our online pharmacy for your convenience. If you are unfamiliar with this service, please inquire with anyone on our team.

Another change coming the beginning of December is Dr. Valerie Pflughoeft’s departure. Dr. Val and her husband are moving south to Tacoma. We are going to miss our teammate and colleague. We wish her much success in her future endeavors.

Mount Vernon will continue to serve canine and feline patients. We are currently accepting new patients and we would enjoy getting the chance to provide care for your smaller family members too.

And for those who have enjoyed our Client Topic Series, we will continue these in the New Year. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and bringing the community together in the best interest of animals.

In closing, we thank you for entrusting us with the care of your animals. We value our clients and friends we have made along the way. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
