Bruce Sandifer Workshop at Sky River Equestrian Center

Bridle Horseman Bruce Sandifer and his assistant Jeff Derby to give workshop at Sky River Equestrian Center.

Bonnie Davis is excited to host a workshop with bridle horseman Bruce Sandifer and his assistant Jeff Derby at Sky River Equestrian Center near Sultan, Washington.

The focus of this 2014 workshop will be on the California style of horsemanship with riders and horses developing their skills in the hackamore, the 2-rein, and the spade bit. The workshop is 6 hours per day, including three 2-hour riding sessions each day for three days. There are a maximum of five riders per session.

Bruce and Jeff will participate in all sessions to guarantee every rider and their horse receives the maximum amount of instruction. Participants will spend part of their day observing and part of their day riding. The time spent observing leaves your horse fresh for the intensity of the 2 hours it gets ridden, and they are not sour from sitting there saddled up all day long. This format keeps the rider more keen, and enables them to watch and learn more.

The opportunity may exist for two colts to be started by Bruce and Jeff in one of the three sessions. Bruce and Jeff work together afoot or with one team member on an experienced saddle horse with each colt. This team approach is the best way to support both each other and the colt through its formative first steps of being ridden.
Auditing is $30 per day (if not riding in the workshop).

Amenities at Sky River include two covered riding arenas, an outdoor trail obstacle course, kitchenette, restrooms, outdoor fire pit & plenty of parking on level ground.50,000 acres of forest land trails are next door (and Bonnie knows the trails very well!).

Dry camping is free. Electrical RV plug-in is $15 per night.

Stall or paddock boarding is available to all participants for a fee of $25 per night.

Sky River Equestrian Center is within 10-20 minutes of several motels/ hotels in Sultan and Monroe, as well as grocery stores, restaurants, fast food establishments, a movie theater, shopping and fuel stations. Participants will be responsible for their own meals and beverages. Dogs are not encouraged, but allowed if kept under control at all times.
