About Michael: As an instructor, I encourage both people and horses toward mutual understanding. My approach is inspired by the work, methods and ideology of the late horsemen Tom and Bill Dorrance, and Ray Hunt. I ride regularly with Buck Brannamanand consider myself blessed to be able to draw on his knowledge and years of experience. Pursuing this tradition of horsemanship should result in a horse that is easy to ride and light to your aids, being mentally engaged and enthusiastic, as well as a rider that looks like they belong on a horse and enjoy being there. This benefit fashion show helps raise funds to support our military families who struggle with the challenges of overseas deployments and the realities of war. Through the NWNHC Family Fund’s annual Warrior Family Retreats, our military families participate in an all-expense-paid weekend, with equine-assisted therapists, horse trainers and counselors. For the past eight years, the retreat has helped husbands and wives learn new life skills and reconnect as loving partners. It also has allowed their children to share their deployment experiences with other kids and enjoy stress-free, fun time with their parents.
